Bae Sehwa debuted internationally at Design Miami/Basel in 2010. Each piece begins as a geometric diagram and ends in hundreds of steam-bent walnut slices, weaving in baesanimsu — the Korean idea that the back of a chair should rise like a mountain while the front flows like water. Represented by R & Company, New York; held by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and MAD New York.
