Ozeki & Co. has produced Gifu lanterns since the Edo period and, since 1951, the Akari series designed by Isamu Noguchi — over 200 models still hand-cut, glued and folded by Ozeki's artisans from Gifu mulberry-fibre washi over bamboo ribs. Distributed worldwide by Vitra.
